ROCKFILL RETAINING WALLS COMPUTER APPLICATION

Availability approximately 3 to 7 days
Availability approximately 3 to 7 days
– It is a closed-source desktop PC software implemented in JAVA as a programming language.
– Presented on USB..
– The main screen or interface of the application consists of 6 tabs or libraries.

INTEGRAL CALCULATION SOFTWARE FOR ROCKFILL RETAINING WALLS

— The application is designed for:

  • Wall calculations:
    — With variable and simultaneous water table, both on the back and the intrados.
    — Without water, both on the back and the intrados.
  • Calculations at the Construction Project level.
  • Retaining and support walls. (Overloads according to regulations).
  • Consider simultaneously, with variable heights, 2 geotechnical units (GU) or different terrains on the backfill.
  • Variable inclinations for intrados, extrados, foundations and courses.
  • Rock foundation (Hoek & Brown nonlinear failure criterion). A novel contribution.
  • Foundation on soils with long and short term consideration.
  • Calculate WITHOUT EARTHQUAKE OR WITH EARTHQUAKE (According to current regulations).
  • Maximum calculated height, 30 meters on the back.
  • Resolution of all possible cases for rockfill walls.
  • Footing and elevation, whether or not concreted, indistinctly, with 3 types of concrete.

— With the input data provided in the different sections, we obtain:

  • All the information and data necessary for the sizing and stability of the corresponding rock wall.
  • The equivalent strength parameters of the foundation mass, if it is rocky. (Novel contribution).
  • Additional graphic information.
  • The program displays results in red when they do not meet the recommended limitations and are always indicated in the results tables.

— The graphical interface of the application is:

  • Very attractive (it comes in different colors).
  • Intuitive and very easy.

— For input data, each table includes a comprehensive drop-down information icon that specifies the ranges of values for each parameter, allowing them to be considered in the corresponding box.

— This software and the final presentation of topic 8 are also supervised at the UPM (E.T.S. of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports).

TOPIC 8. ROPILL RETAINING WALL PLACED IN PDF

It is corrected, supervised and expanded with respect to topic 8 of the original book.

It is extended in the calculation of the admissible stresses in the ground of the foundation, stability of the cut of the excavation during the execution of the wall, maximum design wall height according to equivalent strength parameters given by Hoek & Brown linearization, rock weathering scales and additional information on Hoek & Brown’s nonlinear failure criterion..

The units used for this expanded topic are in the International System (SI).

                                                                                                       COUNTERFORT BRIDGE ABUTMENT
                                                                                STRESS CALCULATION

The following are obtained:

— The deck actions on the abutment:

  • Vertical loads
  • Braking loads
  • Crosswind loads
  • Rheological and temperature effects

— Calculation of elastomeric bearing pads
— Earth pressures on the abutment
— Stresses transmitted to the foundation soil
— Forces for determining tensile reinforcement

SOFTWARE, HOEK & BROWN LINEARIZATION

The equivalent resistant parameters of the rock mass of the foundation are obtained for any type of wall or abutment, providing
previously in the input data, the basic parameters of the matrix rock (Hoek & Brown and/or laboratory tabulations) and the stresses transmitted by the structure to the foundation ground.
